Wet Washing….

“Wet washing hanging on the line

Drying very quickly when the weather’s fine

Along comes the wind and blows them all about

Flip, flap, flip, flap blowing in and out”

(children’s song from Play School)

Trawling through my photos once more I came across this one. Most of you are probably thinking “Why the heck did she even take this photo”? In my defense, when the Tween was a baby (yes they are nappies/diapers on the line) I was an avid scrapbooker. The definition of a scrapbooker is someone who takes photos of random things in order to record their life and bore share with others how things used to be. (Please scrapbookers don’t hang, draw and quarter me. I said this tongue-in-cheek. I still love my scrapbooks and so do my family. The fact that I am several years behind in them is a whole other post).

Anyway, I love this photo. When I see it, it makes me happy. I was a stay-at-home mother with an active baby and although financially we were struggling, life was good! Life still is good. After all it’s what you make of it isn’t it?

Today’s post is not a philosophical one. It is one in praise of weather. The photo and the little ditty accompanying it reminds me of beautiful days. Today is a beautiful day. The forecast for the next two days is for blue skies ahead. This is vastly different to the horrid storms of the past week and the one forecast for later in the week. Today, we can enjoy the skies, the breeze, the sunlight and the joy that being outside brings.

And hang out our wet washing and know with certainty that it will dry!!

    1. I just tried something different and tried to reply from my email. Guess it didn’t work lol (just got back error message).
I was going to say that I love watching washing on the line. It certainly does give a sense of satisfaction.

  1. I love the smell of clothes dried on the line on a sunny day and love watching it flap. I especially love it because its a job my husband does mostly. My job then is to pull it off the line and appreciate the scent šŸ™‚ We have sunlight filtered through clouds at the moment but the prediction is the clouds will float away….yayyyy

    1. Lately the Garden Gnome has been doing the washing. I do the folding. But I love the smell and feel of clothes taken off the line on a warm day. Nothing beats it… okay maybe some things do. šŸ˜‰

  2. That photo is beautiful, something about the tree and the blue sky behind the drying nappies… I had never heard that playschool song, very cute šŸ™‚

  3. This photo reminds me of the backyard of our house in Melbourne and brings back so many fond memories of the time living in Australia with a toddler and a baby! The clothline was always full of nappies drying in the wind. Well, the toddler is now a mama herself and that is why I was looking for the lyrics of this song so I can sing it to my granddaughter as I did to my children. I still have to search for the proper melody…šŸ™„

    1. It’s such a fun song and I’m glad the photo brought back memories. There are a heap of Play School videos on You Tube. You might find it in amongst them.
