I love lighthouses. They are such beautiful structures and serve a wonderful purpose. If I see a lighthouse, I must take a photo. 🙂 Here are several lighthouses from my journeys.
No, this lighthouse is not on a lean. I just have a bad habit of skewing photos when taking them. Of course I could photoshop it, but I forgot to on this occasion.
The tv series “Round the Twist” was shot at this lighthouse.
It was a wet, windy and freezing day when we visited Cape Ottway. This photo was taken from the tea rooms looking down toward the ocean.
It was a hot, hot day when we visited Byron Bay. There wasn’t a lot of parking available unless you wanted to pay. I chose to take a photo from the window of the car.

I love the pictures, Suz. I had a friend that I worked with in Los Angeles who loved lighthouses, too. She ‘collected’ postcards and miniatures of them. I have lost track of her over the years, but now I wish I knew where she was so I could point her to your site, lol! She’d really love this.

I take a lot of photos on my travels. Most of these were taken on the coast of Victoria which is very rugged and home to many shipwrecks.

Love lighthouses! Beautiful photos of them! I always remember the lights beaming out to the horizon at Cape Reinga, the northern tip of New Zealand. Hard to capture on film at night! This picture is sort of how I remember it. Although I don’t know which lighthouse this one is!

I have the same problem when I tilt my camera. I end up with a lot of photos I have to straighten in the post processing. 🙂 There is a lighthouse on the coast of Georgia, which has a long history. The site of various lighthouses being built only to be destroyed by weather, storms, or in the case of our Civil War, those Yankees burned down the lighthouse. Anyway, my daughter and I took a trip to the coast, and I wanted to photograph the lighthouse. This was when I had to learn that cameras and humidity can be frustrating. If we would have stayed longer and waited for my camera to defog, I may have been able to capture it. Love your photos!

Maybe we always look at the world with our head tilted and so our cameras go with us lol. Glad I’m not the only one who does it. 🙂

I actually have several shots of that lighthouse with the rainbow. It was a magical moment. Being on the south coast of Australia in the middle of winter makes for some interesting weather. The wind was blowing right of Antarctica and the seas were incredibly rough. I can see the need for lighthouses in that part of the world.
I like to put a leading line into my photos at times 😉

When I get my act together I’ll be blogging on our Thanksgiving retreat to Cove Point on the shores of Lake Superior. While there, we visited the Split Rock Lighthouse. They tell me that once I’ve been there, and to Gooseberry falls and the Glensheen mansion in Duluth, that I can dub myself a true Minnesotan. (Dual citizenship, I guess, ’cause I can’t forget my Connecticut heritage.)
