Reflections

Actually that pretty much sums up most of my posts. They are all reflections of a sort. This time I am reflecting on the past week (even though it is midweek).

ImageThis week has been interesting so far. I have been getting ‘pressure’ in my head. It comes and goes and is sort of like being able to feel the blood pulsing through. I also have background ringing in my ears. I decided that going to a chiropractor might help but the earliest appointment I could get was for Monday just gone. I went right after work. And he has scared me slightly by telling me that I needed to have x-rays and see my GP. He did some manipulative work on my neck and lower back (apparently I have an inflamed disc) that was excruciating but eased my lower back pain (for a couple of days anyway). After I left the chiro, I headed home to collect the Garden Gnome and the Tween so we could go visit the grandchildren as the middle child had turned 5 that day. A line of severe storms had just been through (apparently parts of SE Qld had 40,000 lightning strikes). This photo was taken from the window of our moving car. It is Flinders Peak. This peak is normally too low to have cloud cover so it was amazing to see this.

Miss Five was ecstatic to see us and squeals emanated from the house when our car pulled into the driveway. Her siblings were just as excited and there was hugs and kisses all round (apart from Master 3 who is too big for all that stuff apparently). We had a ‘birthday cupcake’ with her with the candles on it chosen by her. (She had also baked the cupcakes earlier in the day with her best friend). She showed off her pedicure with pale pink nail polish that Mum had given her earlier in the day and she twirled like a ballerina. It was fun. I can’t believe how much she has grown (both physically and maturity wise) in the past couple of months. And I was so proud of her. Her room was the cleanest of the three. Her sister shut the door to her room but it was too late – we’d already seen it. Her brother just doesn’t care πŸ™‚

I have had my x-rays on my spine now. I can’t interpret them but I am going back to the chiro this afternoon to check them with him. I also need to have a blood test for my GP. I’d better do that before I go back to see her πŸ˜‰ The pressure thing with my head still hasn’t eased and today my head is beginning to throb. That could be hormonal though. Have I ever told you all how much I LOVE being a woman sometimes? I feel like I just want to burst into tears and actually I have had comments on my blog that have made me do just that. lol I’m hoping it is the hormones……

Yesterday when I got home, this was the view from my driveway

ImageIsn’t it beautiful? What a wonderful sight. I’m so pleased that I carry a camera with me all the time.

So just now, my phone rang (it’s 7am) and I heard two random men talking in the background. This means that either my grandchildren have called and the phone is near the tv – although I don’t think that is it because they are always up for a chat and when I said ‘hello’ I would have got a response lol. One of the voices sounded like my brother, so I’m leaning toward him pressing a button on his phone by mistake. Got to love random phone calls πŸ˜€

In the past week I have had so many blessings. I have had wonderful email conversations with some awesome people. I’ve participated in the impro challenge over at my friend Don Charisma’s blog. And then yesterday the Tween modelled her new high school uniform for me. And I cried. She is growing up (albeit with some resistance). She told me she is not ready and she is scared. She looked fantastic. The uniform colours suit her and she is a great kid.

Ahhhh life, it certainly contains a mixture of blessings. And situations that provide blessings in unusual ways. πŸ™‚

Have a blessed day my friends πŸ™‚

  1. I’m happy to read, that you don’t loose your great mood. You are so very good to make me smile, every time I read your blog.

I had the same problems with my head some months ago. It was the blood preassure, as was to high. Not a big problem. I surrived also the x-ray and got to know, the body are used after the age, but I’m alive and happy for that. I hope the best for you too.

    Best luck for you.

    1. Thanks April.
Apparently my neck vertebrae do not go the way that they should and because of that there is some compression. I am also very ‘tight’ in my neck.
And another plus – I have a fractured vertebrae in my lower back. That explains so much πŸ™‚
Chiropractor appointments twice a week for a few weeks to try and teach my spine to behave itself. πŸ˜‰

      1. I have a problem with a joint in my lower back–sacro-something (too lazy to google it). Anyway, my physical therapist said to avoid sitting. ??? Ha! I told him I’m a compulsive knitter. He told me to quit knitting. ??? Ha! I got one of those exercise balls to sit on that is supposed to teach us how to correct our posture and strengthen our core, and I knitted away. Still have some problems, but I haven’t been doing my exercises either, so I am the only one to blame. So—sit upright, and be proud. πŸ™‚

  2. So true, Sue. So many times there are silver linings to ‘negatives’. .Hope you work out the pressure in your head. Poor Tween, re being nervous, hope she has friends to help with the transition. πŸ™‚

    1. Well I’m hoping regular chiro appointments can work out my little problem of neck vertebra not aligned as they should and a fractured vertebrae in my lower back.
The Tween will be fine. Her and one of her friends are asleep on the lounge room floor right now actually. πŸ˜‰

  3. After reading this post, I realize that I must do something about my life. Yours is filled with things to do and places to go on top of joyous occasions throughout. Mine is so humdrum I feel like screaming.

I do hope your head stops throbbing and pulsing. Have you taken any ibuprofen for it?

    1. I actually do very little in my life Glynis but there are so many little things that make up the whole. I’m a bit of a home body and prefer to spend my time reading, writing, sewing and crafting or on the computer. The Garden Gnome drags me outside πŸ˜‰
The throbbing and pulsing aren’t terribly painful at this point. More annoying. It appears to have eased a little more this morning after some chiropractic manipulation yesterday. Thanks for your concern πŸ™‚

    1. It is a strange feeling. Doesn’t appear to be as bad today so maybe the chiro manipulation yesterday has helped a little. My body is aching though. Just as well he warned me that could happen. Who would have thought that the effects caused by the downward pressure of a younger man’s body upon my own would hurt so much the next day πŸ˜‰

  4. X-rays?? I probably have missed why you’ve had x-rays on your spine and my apologies for missing it. I noticed you seemed to relate to some of my issues. I hope your head stops aching…it’s probably from reading all these comments!! lol πŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks Laura. The x-rays on my spine were to ascertain if there is something there that could be causing these funny pressure feelings in my head.
It appears that there are things to be fixed including a fractured vertebrae. Yay me!!
      At least I have answers.
I must admit that commenting certainly does my head in at times πŸ˜‰

        1. Thanks. Since beginning the chiro the feelings have decreased so I’m hoping it is connected to that. I do walk out of the appointments feeling as if I’ve gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson though πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you. I’m glad you like it.
I’m still getting the ‘full head’ feeling and today was having head spins so went to the doctor. All I can say that she ruled out a lot of things that it wasn’t! Bit of a waiting game I think. πŸ˜‰

          1. my in laws have vertigo in many forms. Some have room spinning symptoms, others mild dizziness, others nausea and spinning combined. A virus can trigger an episode. I myself have never experienced vertigo, but do sometimes suffer with tinnitis, although I think I have found the trigger for that. Sounds like with you, it may be blood pressure related.
