K is for Karma

The definition of karma is

1.Hinduism, Buddhism. action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation: in Hinduism one of the means of reaching Brahman. Compare bhakti (  def 1 ) , jnana.

2.Theosophy. the cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person’s deeds in the previous incarnation.

3.fate; destiny. Synonyms: predestination, predetermination, lot, kismet.

4.the good or bad emanations felt to be generated by someone or something: Lets get out of here. This place has bad karma.

As part of my dealing with events of the past, I admit to using the term “I’m going to wait for karma to catch him/her up”. In this way I have been able let go of my need to punish or enact revenge. If I leave it to a higher power then they will surely make a better job of it than I would (and more than likely avoid jail time lol).
I admit that some people believe in karma and some don’t. Just as some believe in the punishment of God and some don’t.
For me, I choose to believe that a person’s actions will result in a reaction of some kind. If a person consistently does horrid things, he/she will reap what they sow just as a person who is constantly loving, forgiving and a beautiful person to know will also reap the rewards.
Sometimes it certainly doesn’t seem fair that a person appears to ‘sail’ through life hurting, manipulating and dehumanising others and yet they reap the benefits of money, fame and power. It isn’t fair but unfortunately that is life. Yet there are many people who are poor in the sense of monetary value but rich in love, happiness and joy. If I had to make a choice between the two, I know which I would choose.
Whether or not I choose to believe in karma, I can choose whether or not to be good to others.

In life everything comes back to us. We are the authors of our destiny.
Karma ties in very well with forgiveness doesn’t it?
We forgive and move on and no longer worry about that other person. What happens to them in their life is their karma – not yours.

Okay, on another note, I had to share something else. Over the past couple of weeks, there have been some wonderful occasions where things have occurred that have no obvious explanation. Some would call it God. Some call it synchrodestiny. There are any number of names for it.
I want to share what happened this morning.
I have been commenting on April’s blog about current news stories here in the land downunder. There were two big ones that I mentioned to her. One was a little girl who was abducted from her bed two days ago and the other was Cyclone Ita about to hit the coast up north. This morning after I answered April’s comments about the cyclone, I looked up what had happened overnight.
Whilst I am online, I have my music playing – my mix is very eclectic. It ranges from modern stuff to classical, to contemporary Christian to jazz (and everything in between). The song playing was “To God be the glory” as I clicked on the ABC website to discover that the cyclone had hit the coast and immediately downgraded in severity. It did very little damage to the historic town of Cooktown that it hit. And the next news story immediately after that was that the little girl had been found – across the road from her home.
Amazing isn’t it?
