Through my Lens

Come with me today as we travel to Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales Coast. This was our first stop on our trip around New South Wales a few years ago. This time, the Son had been visiting to celebrate his 21st birthday so he travelled with us for the first part of the journey, leaving us in Katoomba  to go back to Melbourne (but that post will come in a few weeks time).
We were staying only one night in Coffs Harbour and there were only two requests – we had to visit the Big Banana and I wanted to go down to the jetty. Some of these photos aren’t too great but I hope they give you an idea of the beauty of the place. Continue reading

Art – Don Charisma’s Prompt 1

ImageUsing a white background and a medium brush, I created this little drawing that took shape as I went along. The balloon morphed into a heart. The little girl/woman hasn’t quite got a full grasp on the string (it keeps breaking up) and the flower is one I have drawn a million times since I was a young girl. Always four petals and always without lifting the brush or pen/pencil from the page.
So I have saved this original file waiting for instructions for step 2.
If you’d like to see Don’s drawing prompt, it can be found here.

Q is for…… Questions

How many of you thought it was going to be for Quilting??
Okay, it was but I changed my mind again. I’m a woman and it’s my prerogative apparently. And anyway, I’m still working away on the Tween’s quilt. Part of me hates that thing right now. lol
So, how did I come to this topic today? (Well there’s one question for you right there). I guess it is because asking questions is an every day part of life for me.
My mother tells the story of how horrified my great grandmother used to be because I would answer every request from her with ‘why?’ when a I was a toddler. As my mother tells the story, it is because she would always give me a reason for asking me something e.g. “Please clean up your room before I trip over something” or “Please pull up your socks or you will look like nobody owns you”. Actually she used to say that to my brother and I did often wonder if in fact he did belong to somebody else. 😉 Continue reading

P is for Pause, Ponder and Pray

Yesterday was one of those days I won’t forget in a while. It gave me reason to do every one of the above things.
The day started like any other day in my life (and town). Apart from my cat having a major stress out about the change of her kitty litter, all was as it should be (one day I might even blog about THAT little episode).

N is for Nutrition

Our little family brainstorming session for the alphabet actually came up with two suggestions for this letter – Natural and Nutrition. I think they are interrelated.
One of the things I have learned over the past few years is just how much better I feel within myself when I am eating well.
However, I am no saint and I crave sugar along with the best of them. However, as I no longer have a gall bladder to process my fats, I can no longer eat too many fatty foods. 😦 Continue reading
