My entry for this week’s Monochrome Madness on Leanne Cole’s blog was taken at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
This particular photo was taken at Picnic Point not far from where I took the photo that I shared the other day with the Tween admiring the view over the valley below.
We were travelling and sightseeing with friends however they became used to me dropping behind to take photos. I found this flower bed below some trees and the sun was shining right through the poppies and they had turned towards the sunlight.
I loved how it lit up the whole flower. It took a few goes to get the couple of photos that I managed because there was a breeze up on the point so I had to kneel down and wait for the breeze to stop bouncing the flowers around in order to get the photo I envisioned.
Higher powers must have been listening I guess and noticed that I was on my knees saying “Please stop blowing” and answered my plea for a few brief seconds. 😉 After I took the photos, I caught up with everyone else and continued our sightseeing.
Nice work, and it’s so amazing how these plants turn like a large deep space telescope, to follow the sun.

They do don’t they.
As I type this, I am looking out the window at my favourite yellow daisies that are turned toward the morning light yet in the afternoons they are facing the other way. It’s funny how they do that really.

Love the detail on the stems, and the shadows in the petals.

Very nice Suz. When I go out to do macros of flowers the wind pops up every time.

Thanks Paul. It was in fact surrounded by many other flowers but I managed to blur them into the background.

I’m glad you laughed. lol Getting up for me involves getting down on all fours and using my arms as leverage to get up. It’s a lot of fun for sure.

Beautiful Sue, like your style, I’m experimenting in the garden these days, but like you everything has to be perfect, including no breeze.
