I’m still roughly a week behind in my emails. Sorry to you all. I try to read and comment for a little each day but you all keep making more posts!! lol. Currently my inbox has about 391 posts still to read. π
Therefore, today’s post is courtesy of last week’s Sunday Stills challenge to photograph a plane.
I have travelled to Sydney and Melbourne a few times now and I am always happy if I can get a window seat. It doesn’t always happen but sometimes it does.
These photos were taken on my last trip to Melbourne (via Sydney) using my little Canon point and shoot as I didn’t take my EOS450D with me this time. Making sure the baggage goes on the plane and unloading the previous passengers before we get on. These planes often do three or four flights between cities each day.
Into the wild blue yonder. It really is quite surreal up above the clouds. (At this point I would like to point out that these photos have been reduced in quality and saved for web so they have a few aberrations).
I was excited to see the snowfields of both New South Wales and Victoria on this flight. This is Lake Jindabyne and surrounding snowfields in New South Wales.
Up close and personal with another plane. Busy traffic on the tarmac at the airport in Sydney.
I am off to sewing this morning to begin work on something for Mr Almost-Four. The weather is very cool and overcast this morning which is in stark contrast to the week just past.
Much is happening in life and much is still being processed by my mind. There are ups and there are downs and I am trying to find somewhere in the middle to stake my claim. π
Have a great weekend all. π
Beautiful photos! The lakes are huge, love those in-flight wing photos.

Thanks so much John. Lake Jindabyne is quite large.

That is so cool, I did not know there were snowfields in Australia.

We get snow in the southern parts of Australia including the highlands of New South Wales, the Victorian alps and parts of Tasmania. Of course there are a few instances here and there of it snowing here and there in other parts of the country but Victoria and New South Wales have ski resorts. π

I try to be knowledgeable about others countries, this I did not know.
Do I hear ski vacation in Australia? π
Thanks for your reply and info! π

I actually wrote a post yesterday called “I come from the land downunder” with some Australian facts after your question prompted me. π
Ski holiday sounds great. Best time is July/August each year.

I know what you mean about the endless list of posts. Like I’m sure you are too, I really want to read and comment on each one, but time just isn’t going to let it happen. I’ve had to become somewhat brash and just admit I’ll never get to all of them, hoping the blogger friends will understand. If you need to dump the emails from me to clear your inbox, I’ll understand completely.

Of course not Glynis. π
However although I always read the posts, sometimes I just hit the ‘like’ rather than comment.
I am determined to catch up though. π

Great photos! I love the one of the red plane with the works in the neon green coats.

And the day was a little rainy so it made the colours more vibrant! π

Ha ha. I hope you get some of that soon. I do know what it is like to live in drought conditions.

Thank you! One can hope. This is nuts! It’s 97 today and I just heard they are stopping watering common areas around here because of the the restrictions. I pray for a rainy winter.

We went through a time where the only watering we could do of plants and gardens was with recycled grey water. We had our washing machine set up to pump into a huge barrel so that we could bucket the water out to our gardens to keep them alive. Signs popped up all over the place in town saying “We use tank water on our gardens” just in case you were reported for watering.

Wow….that’s intense! I think in some parts of the Bay Area you can get ticketed for washing your car or watering your lawn. I am praying for rain. I miss it…we barely had any last year.

I was so happy that I got that photo considering I was shooting through dirty glass on the plane I was on and both planes were moving.
It’s a struggle to catch up. I’m getting there slowly.

Nice pictures Suz. I don’t envy you your inbox but you have my sympathy. I spend so many hours a day chained to my desk to keep up to date. I’m sure Mr. Almost Four could help you out.

Find that place in the middle, delete some of those messages (or at least delete any that might be mine), and keep on keeping on. Love the plane shots!

I’m pretty behind myself and falling further every day I fear. Love the photos from the plane. Commando always takes the window seat so I rarely get chance to take any unless I lean over him and, if I do, he gets annoyed after a bit.

This time I was travelling alone and scored a window seat on the second leg of the trip.
I’m catching up but it is taking some work. π

Like those shots from the plane Sue, damned if I recall ever being in a plane with wings curved like that, it looks like an eighteen seater.

It was a Virgin aircraft. I didn’t realise that they turned the wings up either until I took the shot.
