Since my last MM post, I was tagged in a Facebook ‘chain mail’ type thing to post a monochrome image each day for five days.
This was right up my alley as I have a bucket load of monochrome images. Funnily enough it was the photos of family members that I changed to monochrome that evoked the most comments with my most popular post being a photo of my late grandmother.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, photos really are snapshots of life and are capable of evoking so many emotions within us.
This week for Leanne and Laura’s Monochrome Madness challenge I have chosen a photo that I took in a pub.
We were road tripping with friends so my camera was always in my bag.
(I always have large bags because they can hold a variety of things. My favourite is a handmade bag made from recycled jeans and patchwork fabrics that holds my DSLR and lenses along with my other essentials such as my purse, phone etc).
Anyway, back to the story……
We decided to go into this pub for lunch and made our way to the table. This place looked really nice and didn’t have the usual ‘pub’ vibe to it. The decor was slightly more upmarket than usual as well.
Of course everyone looked strangely at me as I pulled out my camera and took the following photo π
Please enjoy this snapshot of life with me as I recall our enjoyable lunch at a pub in Toowoomba where we shared great food and lots of laughs.
Love this photo Sue, the different tones, the book of Paris looks intriguing and the flow of the flowers out of the vase… great eye you have. Wonderful still life.
PS Sorry I haven’t fulfilled my B&W photo a day… I haven’t had time π¦ …

I know I was a bit upset that the Paris book was a fake! The photo wanted me to open the book… it lied to me! lol, the power of photography π

Cool shot Suz. You must get some funny looks when you pull out your camera and start shooting. That, in itself would be fun to watch. You should have a co-camera person who takes pictures of those who are watching you take pictures. It would be a fun study of humanity,

I’m used to getting funny looks Paul. It happens even when I don’t have my camera. lol

I like how you are not shy to take pictures wherever you are at. After all, those are where the best pictures are found.

Thank you.
I also took discreet photos at my granddaughter’s funeral. Sometimes having photos fills in the gaps in memories.

Yes they do, and when we need them most they will be there to look back on.

Lots of my photographer facebook friends have been doing this black and white challenge, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing the amazing posts they (and you) come up with…even with color hands tied behind your backs π

You take amazing photographs Suzanne. Hopefully down the road would like to get a DSLR. Particularly for wildlife photography, a friend has one with a zoom, his pictures are incredible.
Thabnks for sharing! π

Having a good zoom lens for wildlife photography is important. I would love a better zoom lens but that is a distant dream.
Thanks for your kind words about my photos. I really appreciate them Carl. π

I really like this! That pub must have had a great interior designer! My niece is doing the 5 day monochrome thing on facebook too, it’s really cool to see pictures of her kids in B&W.

Great photo. I get some pretty strange looks at times too but the best photos often seem to be the odd things that catch the attention.
